How do we choose our estate agent?
What are the key things that home movers look for in their estate agent?
We analyse the results of the Property Academy Home Moving Trends Survey every year and the answers to this question are powerful in many ways.
The survey goes out to almost 30,000 home movers and really gets under the skin of what people think about the property market and estate agents.
Some of the findings vary considerably from year to year but we find that the top reasons why people choose their estate agent remain reassuringly consistent. This year’s survey showed that the following were at the top of a home mover’s estate agent wish list:
43%: Confident they can market my property.
41%: Like and trust them.
36%: They have a good reputation.
36%: They have good knowledge of the market.
Using these results in your business plan
Many of the agents we work with take these findings and weave them into the fabric of their business.
I recently showed this infographic to a new agent during a demo and his eyes lit up. He said that it was like looking at a copy of his business plan in visual form - it reassured him that he was heading in the right direction.
As a new player, he knew that it was important to show that he was already knowledgeable about the market, and could be trusted with the sale of a client’s property from day one. His first port of call was to ensure that he had access to the latest property market insights that he could easily share with his clients and allow him to have informed discussions.
